WWII across the Atlantic Ocean

1. Who was the supreme commander in Europe, and was he successful?

Dwight D. Eisenhower, yes, because he made the Nazi's unconditionally surrender.

2. What was the significance of D-Day?

They had to remove Hitler from Europe , and the only way to do it is by force.

3. Was Gen. Patton an effective leader ?

Yes, they kicked the Nazis out of France

4. Why was the battle of the bulge significant?

It was Hitler's last attempt to win the war.

Coping with the war at home

1. What was the UPA, and what was their job?

Office of price Admonition and the OPA fought inflation by freezing prices on most goods.

2. What was the purpose of the OSRD?

To bring scientist into the war so they can come up with some new technology.

3. In what ways did Americans sacrifice during WWII?

They had to ration, they had to ration, they had to do what ever they had to do to win the war.

4. How similar or different were your sacrifices during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars?

My sacrifices were different,because I didn't have to make any sacrifices.

U.S. gets ready for the fight

1. Who was Philip Randolph, and why did he and President Roosevelt meet?

Philip Randolph, president and founder of the brotherhood of sleeping cars and they meet, because Randolph want blacks to fight in the war instead of doing the janitor work.

2. Who were the WAACs, and why
were they important to the war?

Women Auxiliary Army Corps and they built built all the equipment that the soldiers used?

3. How well did African-Americans do during WWII?

They didn't do well, because they were in segregated neighborhoods and they couldn't fight in the war.

1) What was Lend-Lease, and what countries did it benifit?

The lend-lease policy is when America lends money, weapons, and to Great Britian.

2) What did Roosevelt call Germany U-boats?

He called them rattlesnakes

3) how would you describe Roosevelt's of war?

Roosevelt's opinion of war is self-defense.

1. List all the countries the Nazi's invaded?

 Austria, Czecholovakia, Poland Soviet Union, Romania, France, Finland, Norway, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria

2. What was Munich Agreement, and what was Churchill's opinion of it ?

was  the agreement that declared war on Germany. Churchill didnt like it.

3. What is Blitzkrieg, and what was the purpose?

A suprise attack and then quickly crush all oposition with overwhelming force.

Austria- The first target of The Nazi's, the small country of Austria was created out of the Austro-hungrian empire.

Czecholovakia- About 3 million Germany speaking people living in the western bordered regions of Czecholovakia called the Sudetenland.

Winston Churchill- The prime minister's political rival Great Britian.

Appeasement- or giving up principles to pacify an agressor

Nonaggression pact- An agreement on August 29, 1939 that Germany and Russia wouldn't attack each other

Blitzkrieg- or lighting attack, was a suprise attack and then quickly crush all opposition with overwelming force.

Allies-were countries that opposeed the Axis

Axis- was the alignment of nations that fought in WWll against the Allied forces

Adolf Hitler- Dictator of Germany and leader of the Nazis
